Shinjuku Park Tower is officially the second tallest building in Shinjuku. It's just a few meters shorter than its neighbor, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, but it's no less striking. Inside the tower are a number of retail stores, restaurants, offices, and the luxury Park Hyatt Tokyo hotel. Comprising of cascading towers, the Shinjuku Central Park was planned in 1960 as a metropolitan park on the site where the Yodobashi Water Filtering Plant was once located. It was opened in 1968 and formed a link in the chain of the new city center project.
